Looking after Number 1

A building with a feted history, 1 Nicholson Street was Melbourne’s first glass curtain wall facade skyscraper, built back in 1958. Its glass-walled 18 levels, boast incredible views of nearby Parliament Gardens and Parliament House.

This project entailed the installation of a new end-of-trip facility (EOT) within the building. An unusual twist to the story was that the project architect had offices in the building itself! It turned out to be a helpful scenario, as the build and installation timeframes were accelerated and time was of the essence.

Lockin installed 168 P2 hanging lockers fitted with Ojmar OCS touch locks and finished in Laminex Blackened Linewood. Extra joinery for the project included towel storage units, airing cupboards, and bench seating with integrated shoe shelves.

With its clean, minimalist lines and stark colour palette, this EOT facility brings a distinctive modern style to a corporate tower with a famous legacy.
