Eye for fine detail

Our project for the Law Institute of Victoria included a reception area, library, and two staff kitchen and café style spaces. One critical aspect of the brief was to source cost-effective materials that wouldn’t detract from the high impact effect of the designs.

When you’re engaged to fit out the twin level offices home to the peak professional body for Victorian solicitors, you know you’re dealing with people with an eye for fine detail.

The impressively imposing curved reception desk was constructed with Wilsonart Traceless, a high-pressure decorative laminate that is fingerprint resistant. The desk top was constructed with Pallisandro marble, and the desk featured a brushed brass gold trim and kicker. The reception area also featured a large, ceiling-mounted powder-coated steel and mesh planter incorporating lights.

The library carried through a similar aesthetic to the reception, utilising Wilsonart Traceless laminate for the counter and bookshelves, which were trimmed in the gold edge detailing. The counter itself was customised to incorporate a small bookshelf designed to feature key titles.

The kitchens contrasted the more classic dark tones of the office spaces with a light, clean and airy feel. The island bench was constructed of Brina White marble, with open shelves across the back wall featuring Navtex Honey Oak veneer. Much of the kitchen surfaces were clad in Wilsonart Traceless laminate in a soft grey shade.
