The Uniguard metal clad door system’s door leaf is clad with a 1.2mm stainless-steel skin which is welded and polished to allow more stringent cleaning. It also allows duct taping of the door to the frame during pressure testing and/or fumigation without degeneration of the surfaces.
Fully welded and polished at all joints and ground smooth to provide a seamless panel, the metal clad door’s external steel skins are bonded to a foam core. The internal space incorporates a fully welded 40mm SHS galvanised steel perimeter frame with high impact PVC reinforcing blocks to lock and closer positions.
A stainless-steel clad, heavy duty, internal fully welded SHS framed, foam core steel door leaf, is pre-hung into a Sealeck bio-containment frame to suit sandwich panel, stud or masonry wall types.
Thresholds
The standard frame is supplied three-sided without a threshold and there are two threshold options: 1) flush threshold and 2) step over invertebrate threshold. The flush threshold is suitable for stainless-steel frames only and has a recessed 5mm thick stainless-steel threshold mortar filled on site into 30mm floor recess to maintain flatness, assists with door leaf to floor sealing. The step over invertebrate threshold is suitable for insectary applications and for stainless-steel frames only. It has a full frame jamb profile for step over threshold and adjustable seal protected with screw fixed 3mm thick stainless-steel cover plate.
The threshold options and vision panels available depend on which Uniguard door system is required (see below).

Specifications |
- Leaf sizes: All leaves made to order. Typical door leaf sizes: 716mm, 816mm or 916mm wide x 2040mm high. Special sizes up to 2950mm high and 1420mm wide.
- Leaf skin thickness: 43mm
- Weight: 65kgs for standard 2040 x 818 x 43mm leaf.
- Frame skin thickness: 1.6mm standard with an option to increase to 1.6mm.
- Leaf skins and frame material: Standard 304 stainless steel with option to upgrade to 316 stainless steel.
- Lock: Hardware latch plate is recessed into the door edge to be flush (or near flush) with the external edge surface of the door leaf.
- Finish: Standard polished stainless steel with primed, wet sprayed, special PVF2 or finished stainless-steel options.
Hardware specifications
Locks:
- Cylindrical or mortise locks are only optional for 1-0.
- Electromagnetic locks are optional for 1-0, and are standard for 2-R, 3-R, 4-R, 5-R and 6-R and have been Sealeck modified FSH MEM2400.
- A recessed lock and/or closer is an option for entire range. The head of the frame is extended, and the closer and lock are fitted into the recess. The lock is Sealeck modified FSH 1982JM with wiring exiting the frame through a sealed gland. The closer is DORMA ITS96.
Closers:
- Sealeck standard is DORMA TS83 or TS93 in standard or full stainless-steel trim (for concealed option refer above to ITS96).
- When fitting electromagnetic locks, Sealeck fit a Lockwood “D” handle to the pull slide only on stainless-steel clad doors.
- Note: For stainless-steel frame applications, Sealeck can provide as an option a fully recessed electromagnetic lock and door closer mounting outside the adjustable seal which allows simplified duct taping for pressure testing and/or fumigation requirements.
Seals:
Adjustable seals to jamb and head are optional to suit design or user requirements.
Drop down seal to threshold is optional to suit design or user requirements.
Vision panel and threshold option specifications
1-0 – Doors for outer airlock applications
Vision panels: Sealeck 20 and 25 Series, Sealeck 30 Series and Sealeck 40 and 45 Series are available.
Threshold: Although a step over invertebrate threshold is generally not suitable for PC2 lab applications, either of the threshold options are available.
2-R – Doors for PC2 plant and animal areas
Vision panels: Sealeck 20 and 25 Series, Sealeck 30 Series and Sealeck 40 and 45 Series available.
Threshold: A step over invertebrate would only be required for specialist animal research facilities where small vermin pose a potential threat. Either of the threshold options are available.
3-R – Doors for PC2 invertebrate areas
Vision panels: Sealeck 20 and 25 Series, Sealeck 30 Series and Sealeck 40 and 45 Series available.
Threshold: A step over invertebrate threshold must be used to meet the PC level requirements or for health and safety reasons.
4-R – Doors for outer airlock applications
Vision panels: Sealeck 30 Series and Sealeck 40 and 45 Series available.
Threshold: Flush and step over invertebrate thresholds (if used on invertebrates PC3/PC4 lab) are available as options to suit design or user requirements.
5-R – Doors for inner airlock applications
Vision panels: Sealeck 30 Series and Sealeck 40 and 45 Series available.
Threshold: Either of the threshold options are available.
6-R – Vision panels to suit bio-containment doors for invertebrates and inner and outer ante rooms applications within PC3 – PC4 facilities
Vision panels: Sealeck 30 Series and Sealeck 40 and 45 Series.
Threshold: Step over invertebrate threshold must be used when door sets used in invertebrates, inner and outer ante door applications within PC3 to PC4 facilities.
