The Bunker House was a very exciting project for ARA Manufacture and presented a unique opportunity for ARA Manufacture with our Monarch Renlita doors to showcase our Monarch Renlita Hydraulic Single Leaf vertical folding door in a high-end residential property. These doors are typically used in a commercial space where aesthetics are just as important as function, so it really lent itself to this high-end residential project.

The clients’ requirement for the door was to maximize the clearance space of their garage to allow clearance for a taller vehicle while blending the door into the aesthetics of the facade but still allowing for the incredible view to be seen from inside the space whether the door is open or closed. And due to its engineered design, the door is also providing an additional 3m of covered usable space all year round.

Clients comments

Why did you choose the Monarch Renlita door?
“We chose the Monarch Renlita glass door for this project because there was such an incredible view from the site. We couldn’t bear to cover it up with a standard garage door.

Monarch Renlita were able to match the window detailing and glass from the rest of the project to the garage door, so it was all seamless and consistent. The door looks like an expensive architectural window and we’re really happy with our choice.

Monarch Renlita are known for doing the hardest jobs from an engineering perspective so we knew that for them, this garage would be a walk in the park. ”

What was the appeal of the design?
“The door allowed for complete head clearance. If we didn’t choose this door, we were going to lose 300mm headroom, and because I’ve got a big, high car this was really important to me.”

Where was it installed?
“The garage at the Bunker House. The Bunker House is a luxury coastal escape, located in Gerringong on the NSW South Coast (around 90 min drive from Sydney). The site is located behind Werri Beach and enjoys an amazing view.”

What was the installation process like?
“The installation process was like clockwork, it was really easy. The technicians arrived at 7 am and were finished by 10 am. For them to install such a massive, glass door with glazing in such a short amount of time was incredible.”

What has been the best aspect of the door so far?
“We weren’t expecting this, but when we leave the door open throughout the day it provides an additional 3m of shelter. This is perfect for when it’s raining, or when I’m building in the garage, the additional usable space makes a huge difference.”

Would you change any design aspects of the door if you had the ability?
“I’d love to be able to have a slightly darker tint on the windows because I don’t like people to be able to see inside the garage, but if we had done that it wouldn’t match the window detailing to the rest of the home.”

Would you consider using the same door in future projects?
“Definitely.”
